Resonant Healing: Political Grief Circle + Soundbath

  • Mama Be Well Healing Studio 4034A California Avenue Southwest Seattle, WA, 98116 United States (map)

We are all holding grief about the current state of the world, but many of us think we should not express our feelings. Whether it’s because we don’t want to get into a discussion with strangers or we’re just so tired from holding it all in, our hearts are full with the pain.

You are invited to a grief circle where you are free to talk openly about the polycrisis: politics, misogyny, abuse, harm to children and immigrants, climate collapse, genocide, war, plus more, and the United States’s role in all of it.

The circle opens with a grounding exercise, led by Larissa Jones, yoga and meditation teacher. Then we spend time exploring what’s weighing on our hearts in a sharing circle and by journaling, interspersed with short sound transitions. Finally, Larissa will play a sound bath designed to return our nervous systems to a more regulated state.

You will leave with a sense of shared understanding and spaciousness to continue to face the ongoing stressors of our current political crisis.

Tending to collective grief in the midst of crisis is necessary to being able to show up as our best selves when we are needed. Resonant Healing is a safe and brave space to let down the armor and to grieve together.

Pricing

Larissa and I are offering 3 pricing options: Supporter, Friend, and Supported. We recognize that everyone has different means and priorities. If the Supported option is still out of reach, please email me to discuss a scholarship opportunity. The explanations below assume a full workshop of 8 paying participants.

Supporter $65. This option covers all of our expenses, including both Larissa’s and my time during the workshop.

Friend $50. This option covers all of our expenses, but we as instructors receive only a portion of our standard hourly rates.

Supported $35. This option covers only our expenses, with minimal payment to Larissa & me.

A note on cost: Washington now requires sales tax on events like this. 10.55% will be added to your total when you check out.

What to bring

We will be sitting on chairs for the first 90 minutes and then moving to mats on the floor for the final sound bath. You are encouraged to bring blankets, bolsters, low pillows, or anything that will help you feel comfortable while lying on the floor.

We will be writing, so please bring a hard-backed notebook or journal and pen or any writing or drawing tools you’d like.

Bring something to drink. Water is available; bring your own mug if you can.

Meet Larissa

A white woman with brown hair wearing blue yoga clothes is sitting on a white pillow with her legs crossed, playing a brass bowl held in her palm at chest height.

Larissa is a yoga and meditation instructor. She teaches restorative yoga and soundbath at Mind.Body.Hum.

Accessibility Note

Mama Be Well Healing Studio is on one flat level. There is a gate to pass through with a slight decline and uneven tile to the door, which is not level with the ground. There is minimal space between chairs and mats once inside. If you use a wheelchair, crutches, or another mobility assistance device, please let us know ahead of time so we can be sure to clear a path. There is a restroom; the path to the restroom will require stepping over mats (and possibly people in the last 30 minutes).

The studio is a shoe-free space. There are socks available (women’s size).
